Southdale Allergy and Asthma Clinic is one of the oldest allergy offices in the Twin Cities. Dr. Albert Stoesser, an associate professor at the University of Minnesota, opened the clinic in 1948. Dr. Stoesser later added Dr. Lloyd Nelson to the practice. Historically, the clinic has been a two physician office. When the older physician retired a new physician was added: first Dr.Theodore Smith, then Dr. Heinrich Brucker and then Dr. Hannelore Brucker as first female physician in an allergy office in the Twin Cities. Since Dr. Heinrich Brucker’s untimely passing in 2003, Dr. Hannelore Brucker has continued to run the practice as a solo practitioner. She has owned and operated the clinic for over 30 years.
Our office takes exceptional care of our patients. Our staff carefully attends to patients’ individual needs, and we keep our surroundings comfortable. In addition to answering phones quickly, and remaining available 24 hours a day, we offer prompt and convenient appointments to our patients. We give allergy injections daily including Saturday mornings. Our office staff has won several awards for outstanding patient care. But more rewarding is our patients’ loyalty. Some of our patients who started as babies have stayed with us for sixty years!
We treat all common allergy conditions in adults and children ages five and up. Our office uses advanced equipment for diagnosis and treatment. New allergy medications are studied and, if effective, applied as soon as they are available. We try to understand the whole person and adjust our treatment to individual needs and life situations. We maintain a close personal relationship with each and every patient. Dr. Brucker looks at her patients as a family she loves to take care of.
Dr. Brucker’s special interest lies with finding connections between pollen and food allergies. Her training in dermatology under Dr. Heinrich Brucker has given her special knowledge of skin problems as well. Dr. Brucker follows the research of newly discovered allergic diseases and has given numerous talks at medical meetings. She has also published clinical reports for conferences of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. She enjoys taking the time to research complicated allergy problems and find answers for her patients.
